STOCKHOLM--Lundin Petroleum AB (LUPE.SK) said Monday that first oil from the Edvard Grieg field in the Norwegian North Sea was achieved on 28 November 2015.

It said the Edvard Grieg field is estimated to contain gross proved and probable reserves of 187 million barrels of oil equivalents.

Development drilling with the Rowan Viking jack-up rig will resume shortly and a total of ten production wells and four water injection wells are planned to be drilled with plateau production expected during the second half of 2016. It expects drilling of the development wells to continue into 2018.

Lundin Norway is operator of production licence PL338 with a 50% working interest. The partners are OMV Norge with 20%, Statoil with 15% and Wintershall Norge with 15%.
